The Edmonton Oilers could get a huge boost to their lineup for tomorrow night’s outing versus the Calgary Flames.

The Oilers have been a banged-up bunch lately. They were without Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Mattias Ekholm, and Stuart Skinner in last night’s 6-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken. They also continue to remain without Evander Kane and Trent Frederic.

The injuries have come at an inopportune time for the Oilers, as they are beginning to lose ground on the LA Kings for second place in the Pacific Division. Despite all the negative news surrounding this team as of late, they were able to get a positive update this afternoon.

As first reported by Jason Gregor of Sports 1440, Draisaitl will be present at morning skate tomorrow and has a good shot at suiting up versus the Flames. The 29-year-old has missed the last three games with an undisclosed injury.

Getting Draisaitl back into the lineup would be huge for the Oilers, as he’s undoubtedly been their MVP this season. His 49 goals lead the NHL, while his 101 points are third behind only Nikita Kucherov and Nathan MacKinnon. He remains in the hunt for the Hart Trophy, though missing these past few games could wind up hurting his chances.

As for McDavid, it was recently reported that his injury will keep him out longer than initially expected, though no exact timeline has been given. He’s been out the past three games with a lower-body ailment.

The Oilers, who are just 5-4-1 over their last 10 outings, find themselves trailing the Kings by two points for second place in the Pacific. Their chances of catching the Vegas Golden Knights may be over, however, as they sit seven points back with just 10 games remaining.
