The Edmonton Oilers are already missing Leon Draisaitl, and now it looks like they may have to deal with losing Connor McDavid as well.
After a seemingly innocent-looking play late in the second period, McDavid was clipped by Winnipeg Jets defenceman Josh Morrissey. The Oilers captain seemed to favour his arm at the end of the play.
He did not come out onto the Oilers bench at the start of the third period and the Oilers later announced that he would not return due to sustaining a lower-body injury.

This is the last thing that this Oilers team needed after losing Draisaitl to an undisclosed injury in Tuesday night’s game against Utah. With McDavid out, the Oilers are now at risk of not having their two leading scorers in the lineup for Saturday night’s game against the Seattle Kraken.
With those two injured, Evan Bouchard has the opportunity to be the highest-scoring player in the lineup with 54 points.
Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch did say that the team was being more cautious with their star players to ensure that everybody is healthy for the playoffs. Draisaitl’s injury was listed as being day-to-day, and the hope is that will also be the case for McDavid.
When asked after the game, Knoblauch did not have any update on McDavid’s condition.
