The Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights are set to go head-to-head in the playoffs for the second time in three years.
Both the Oilers and Golden Knights punched their ticket to the second round Thursday evening. The Oilers defeatedĀ the LA Kings in six games in the opening round, while the Golden Knights took down the Minnesota Wild in a series that also went six games.
An official start date for this upcoming series of Tuesday, May 6 was officially set on Saturday night.
In addition to the other NHL playoff games, the schedulers had a few different variables to work around.
There is a boxing match scheduled at T-Mobile Arena on Sunday between Naoyu Inoue and Ramon Cardenas, meaning the series couldn’t begin until Monday at the earliest. There is also a Katy Perry concert, set for Saturday, May 17, in Las Vegas.
Back at Rogers Place, the only potential conflict to work around was Stars on Ice, scheduled for Sunday, May 11. A Cypress Hill concert was moved to a later date during the first round to make room for an Oilers playoff game.
