Cypress Hill concert in Edmonton bumped by Oilers playoff game

The Edmonton Oilers’ playoffs have resulted in some upcoming scheduling conflicts at Rogers Place.

The Oilers were able to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the sixth straight year, but unlike several years past, were unable to grab hold of home-ice advantage. As a result, there has been a recent scheduling change at Rogers Place.

Hip-hop group Cypress Hill was scheduled to perform at Rogers Place on Thursday, May 1. However, Game 6 between the Oilers and LA Kings is scheduled to take place in Edmonton on the same night, meaning the concert, which will also feature Snotty Nose Rez Kids, has been moved.

“OEG Sports & Entertainment announced today that the Cypress Hill O Canadabis 2025 Canadian Tour, featuring 2025 Juno Award winner Snotty Nose Rez Kids, previously scheduled for Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Rogers Place has been rescheduled to Sunday, May 4, 2025, due to the Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round schedule,” the Oilers Sports & Entertainment group released in a statement this morning.

Of course, it remains possible that the Oilers and Kings don’t wind up needing six games to decide this series, though the concert will be changed regardless in case a lengthy series does transpire.

The Oilers are set to play at Rogers Place this evening, where they will be looking to get back into their first-round series versus the LA Kings, whom they trail 2-0 after dropping each of their first two games on the road.

This is unfamiliar territory for the Oilers, who have eliminated the Kings in the first round of the playoffs in three consecutive years. Through two games, however, inconsistent play paired with some untimely injuries has proven costly.

The Oilers, who are feeling the heat, have made several line changes for tonight’s outing, the most notable being between the pipes, as Calvin Pickard will get the nod over Stuart Skinner. Should they pick up a win tonight, it would greatly increase their chances of having a Game 6 in Edmonton in just under a week.
