A lot has changed over the past five years, and while it can be tough to say goodbye to the way things were, it feels pretty special when our favourite traditions make a comeback.

The Edmonton Ice Castles are finally returning this winter after a five-year hiatus. Instead of Hawrelak Park, which is still closed for major rehabilitation, the frozen wonderland will take over Fan Park in the Ice District.

The attraction hasn’t been built since the 2019 season due to the pandemic cancelling its 2020 season, and Edmonton has been left out in the cold ever since.

But once again, you can bundle up and race down sparkling ice slides, crawl through frozen tunnels, and wander caverns and archways that feel straight out of a fairy tale.

Hand-carved ice sculptures will be tucked throughout the castle, and you can even stop by the Frozen Tap for a winter-themed cocktail in the coolest bar around.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Dec. 2, with prices still to be announced.
