
Smoke is visible to a wide swath of west Edmonton due to a wildfire reported in the area Tuesday afternoon.
Photos and videos posted to social media show a large plume of smoke rising into the sky in the area 186 Street and 104 Avenue.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services told Daily Hive that crews responded to reports of a brush/grass fire at 12:35 p.m. and remain on scene battling to bring the fire under control.
Edmonton Police Services issued a traffic advisory just after 2 p.m. due to the fire near 111 Avenue and 189 Street, just north of the Anthony Henday.
Police say several businesses have been evacuated and motorists are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
It’s not known what sparked the blaze.
