An Edmonton actor was just cast in an exciting new TV show

Keep your eyes on the screen for a familiar face. An Edmonton-born actor is set to appear in a new TV series.
Eric Johnson, known for his roles in Smallville, Flash Gordon, and the Fifty Shades series, is joining the cast of Vought Rising, a prequel to Amazon’s hit series The Boys, according to Deadline.
The official storyline for Vought Rising hasn’t been released yet, but Deadline reports the series has been described as “a twisted murder mystery” set in the 1950s, following the origins of Vought International, the early exploits of The Boys characters Soldier Boy, and the rise of Stormfront, then known as Clara Vought.

Johnson’s role is still being kept under wraps, but Deadline notes he will appear in a recurring role in addition to Cecily Strong, Mark Pellegrino and Annie Shapero.
They’ll be appearing alongside Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, with Mason Dye, Will Hochman, KiKi Layne, Jordan Myrie, Nicolo Pasetti, Elizabeth Posey, Brian J. Smith and Ricky Stafferi rounding out the list of series regulars.
The latest expansion of The Boys universe, which already includes Gen V and The Boys Presents: Diabolical, Vought Rising, went into production in August and is being produced ahead of The Boys‘ fifth and final season, expected to air next year.
