Scenic Alberta spot named among the cutest towns in the Rocky Mountains
If you’re looking for a cute town to visit in the Rocky Mountains, there is one right in Alberta.
World Atlas, one of the largest publishing resources in geography, released its list of the seven cutest small towns in the Rockies, and Banff made the cut.
Located just over 100 kilometres from Calgary, Banff was touted for its stunning scenery, including the peaks of Mount Rundle and Mount Cascade, which are visible from the town.
The publication pointed to the iconic Lake Louise, known for its glacier-fed turquoise waters. Beyond the views, Banff was praised for its wide range of outdoor activities, from hiking and canoeing in the warmer months to skating and skiing when winter comes.
World Atlas also noted that the surrounding national park is home to wildlife such as deer, elk, and bears, perfect for wildlife watching in their natural habitats. The town was also praised for its historic charm, with landmarks like the Fairmont Banff Springs and the nearby Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise drawing visitors in from all over the world.

Banff was the only Canadian spot to make the list, with other locations including Telluride, Colorado; Taos, New Mexico; and Jackson, Wyoming.
Banff is no stranger to the spotlight. Earlier this year, it was even named a wonder of the world for 2026 as well as one of the best long weekend destinations in the Rocky Mountains.
