Connor McDavid spotted at highly anticipated hot chicken restaurant opening in Edmonton soon
Dave’s Hot Chicken opens its doors in Edmonton soon, and even Oilers’ captain Connor McDavid had to pop by to check the location out.
Dished got an early preview Wednesday evening at what Edmontonians can expect from the popular chicken chain, which is slated to open tomorrow.
McDavid was spotted alongside his wife, Lauren Kyle McDavid, who is stepping into the hospitality industry here in Edmonton herself with a stylish new bar slated to open later this spring.
Oilers right winger Connor Brown also joined the group to check out the hotly anticipated location.
The spot, which started in an East Hollywood parking lot in 2017, is known for its crispy chicken tenders and sliders. Its chicken can also be customized to different heat levels, from zero spice to tear-inducing “Reaper” heat.
Dished went ahead and tried a mild and medium slider from the Dave’s #2 spread, going the extra mile with cheese fries and throwing in some Dave’s sauce with it. It was so filling and fresh– we recommend treating yourself to it!

As an antidote to the severe spice levels, the restaurant also offers fries, kale slaw, and real ice cream milkshakes. We tried out the Lucky Charms top-loaded milkshake, strawberry-flavoured flavoured of course, and it was superb!

Dave’s Hot Chicken has been teasing its expansion across Canada for a while after opening its first Toronto location in early 2021. It now has several locations in Ontario, and its Canadian connection has been furthered by rapper Drake, who bought a stake in the company in 2021.
While Edmonton is the first Alberta location to open, Calgary won’t be far behind. Earlier this year, the company told Dished that three leases had been signed for Dave’s outposts in the city that will open later in the spring.
