Some Alberta spots forecast to see a whopping 22-degree temperature swing in less than a day
If you’re living in or travelling to some beautiful parts of Alberta this weekend, be sure to keep a change of clothes nearby thanks to a huge temperature swing in the forecast.
It may be the middle of August, but some seriously chilly overnight temperatures are making an appearance in some areas, even flirting with the zero-degree mark.
The temperature roller coaster can be found in spots west of Calgary, with Canmore, Kananaskis Village, and Peter Lougheed Provincial Park sharing the same bumpy seven-day forecast.
Heavy rain has settled into those areas, and some brisk overnight lows are at play, with the overnight of Friday, Aug. 14 settling in at just 2°C.
A huge warm-up is on deck less than 24 hours later, with Saturday, Aug. 15 forecast to reach a high of 24°C and plenty of sunshine. Between overnight Friday and during the day Saturday, that’s a wild 22-degree temperature fluctuation.

According to ECCC, the average daytime high for all three mountain locations for this time of year is 21°C, with an average low sitting at 6°C.
