Canada-wide recall issued for ice cream due to gravel-like pieces
If you’re a frozen dessert lover, you may want to check your freezer.
A nationwide recall has been issued by Health Canada for a popular non-dairy ice cream brand over concerns about the potential presence of plastic-like and gravel-like pieces.
So Delicious Dairy Free has recalled its 500 mL Salted Caramel Cluster Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert after the company identified a potential issue with one of its ingredients.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we have voluntarily recalled this product due to the potential presence of foreign materials within the cashew inclusions,” the company states on its website.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the recall affects products with the following best-before dates:
- Sept. 8, 2027
- Oct. 15, 2027
- Oct. 16, 2027
- Feb. 3, 2028
- Feb. 25, 2028
- March 30, 2028
- March 31, 2028
Consumers are being told not to use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product.
This is also the second time this year that the same Salted Caramel Cluster flavour has been pulled off shelves. In January, Health Canada issued a recall for the exact same reason.
At the time of publication, So Delicious Dairy Free says no other flavours or products have been affected.
The brand’s frozen desserts are commonly sold at major retailers across Canada, including Sobeys, Walmart, Loblaws and Real Canadian Superstore.
For fans of the Salted Caramel Cluster flavour, there may be some good news down the road.
“We have identified and corrected this issue and will soon be able to bring the product back to market safely,” the company stated online.
