A popular plant-based brand is returning to grocery stores across Canada
It was a sad day for many when Yves Veggie Cuisine, one of Canada’s longest-running plant-based food makers, announced that it would be discontinuing its products across Canada.
The announcement was quietly revealed in a reply to a comment left on an Instagram post by the B.C.-founded company.
When a user asked Yves to expand their products to Michigan and the United States, the company responded that it had made the “difficult decision” to discontinue the brand.
Yves explained that the move was done to “ensure long-term growth across [its] brand portfolio.”
“We understand your disappointment, and we truly appreciate your loyalty over the years,” added Yves.
However, those who mourned the loss of the brand will be happy to hear that Maple Leaf Foods Inc. announced six fan-favourite products from Yves will soon be returning to grocery shelves across Canada.
“Yves is one of those rare brands that people didn’t just buy — they built routines, recipes, and traditions around it. When Yves disappeared from shelves, Canadians made it very clear how much this brand meant to them. We heard that passion. Bringing Yves back is about honouring 40 years of trust, protecting what people have always loved about the products, and giving this iconic Canadian brand an exciting next chapter,” said Adam Grogan, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Foods.
The returning products include Yves Original Veggie Ground Round, Yves Original Veggie Ground Round (4-Pack), Yves Mexican Veggie Ground Round, Yves Veggie Ham, Yves Veggie Bologna, and Yves Veggie Turkey. These products have already started appearing in grocery stores across Canada, and more retail partners are expected to carry the products in the coming weeks.

Entrepreneur Yves Potvin founded what would become Yves Veggie Cuisine in 1985, touting the world’s first veggie dog created out of soy.
Potvin sold the company to The Hain Celestial Group in 2001. He would also go on to create the plant-based food company Gardein and is the current president and owner of Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts.
