An online Scotiabank outage has left many customers frustrated and unable to access their online banking app or the bank’s online services.

Earlier on Thursday, Scotiabank posted on X stating that it was “experiencing a temporary disruption to Account Transfer features on some accounts on [its] mobile and online banking platforms.”

“We apologize sincerely for the inconvenience. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible.”

Hours later, it appears that the issues still have not yet been resolved.

Many angry customers took to X, noting that the outage has impacted their ability to pay rent, transfer funds, or pay their bills on the first of the month.

As of 5:10 p.m. PDT, Scotiabank has posted replies to customers on X stating that it is still working to resolve the issue “as soon as possible.”

“As the process is still in progress, we do not have an estimated completion time at this moment,” stated the bank in one reply.

In a statement to Daily Hive, Scotiabank provided more details about the outage.

“We sincerely apologize for the system issue which may still be affecting some of our clients’ ability to see up-to-date balances on their Investment and MomentumPLUS Savings accounts,” stated the company.

“This was caused by an issue impacting the processing of fund transfers by a third-party vendor which has been resolved. We are working diligently to ensure account balances are updated as soon as possible.”

The bank added that any fees incurred by clients as a result of the issue will be reimbursed.
