Some Canadians are expressing dissatisfaction with the federal election results, saying they want to move to the United States.

Monday night saw Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberal Party live to see another term in Ottawa.

The final election results are Liberals with 169 seats in the House of Commons, Conservatives with 144 seats, Bloc Québécois with 22 seats, NDP with seven seats, and the Green Party with one seat.

Carney will continue to lead a minority government amid a trade war with the U.S. and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis in Canada.

Some Canadians who are unhappy with the election results are taking to social media, threatening to move to the U.S.

“Thank you, Canada, for ruining every young 20-year-old’s dreams. So, who’s running to the states with me?” reads one TikTok.

The video has close to two million views and thousands of comments in agreement with this sentiment.

“I just don’t understand how anyone could vote for the exact same government after 10 years of disaster,” reads a comment.

“Been crying all morning. Pierre worked so hard for us, and we failed him as well as ourselves,” reads another reply.

In addition to the Conservative loss in Parliament, leader Pierre Poilievre was also pushed out of his seat in the Carleton, Ottawa riding by Liberal candidate Bruce Fanjoy. He’s the first Conservative leader to lose their seat since Kim Campbell in the 1993 federal election.

On X, one person said that another Liberal win has cemented their wish to move to the States.

“I’m Canadian and I’ve always wished that we had as much freedom as America,” it reads. “I was looking into moving to the US when Trudeau 1.0 was PM of Canada, but now that Trudeau 2.0 is PM, I definitely want out.”

“I was thinking of moving to the US anyway. If the Liberals win, that will be the final deciding factor,” added another. “I think Trump will soon make it much simpler for Canadian citizens to immigrate as well.”

Some people stood up in support of Carney during the discussions.

“You guys realize Mark Carney is 10x more experienced and educated than Justin, right?” reads one comment on TikTok.

“I’m a conservative through and through, but voted for Carney this time. I’m 23,” added another person.
