A New Brunswick man could be the luckiest person in Canada after he hit the $1 million lotto jackpot for a second time.

Jim Slate of Shediac Cape previously won $1 million on a Scratch’ N Win in 2011, and now he’ll be sharing his new prize with his friend, Bill Eisener, a resident of Moncton.

Slate and Eisener won the $1 million prize for the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Draw on July 12.

The men have been friends for decades and have played the lottery together for the past two years.

Slate noticed he had won the prize after scanning his ticket on the Atlantic Lottery mobile app.

He told his wife, who said he needed to call Eisener immediately.

“We sort of shocked Bill when we called him,” said Slate. Eisener confirmed this, saying he was shocked to hear the good news.

“My wife was going berserk. It freaked me out until the reality set in there,” he said. “I haven’t grasped it yet.”

Eisener said he’d like to use his winnings to buy a new truck, and Slate wants to travel North America with his wife.

“[I want to] get a travel trailer and go west. I’ve never been cross-country. I’ve been to Edmonton and BC but not across. And hopefully down through the States and come back to the East Coast,” he said.
