Canadian bids boss goodbye after winning $14-million Lotto Max jackpot
A Lotto Max winner is now living every hopeful lottery player’s dream after scoring an impressive jackpot.
One day, Lotto Max player Karine Sirois decided to try her luck by buying a ticket online for the Jan. 13 draw. The 50-something resident of Capitale-Nationale had just been going about her day when she received a life-changing phone call on Jan. 14.
A Loto‑QuĂ©bec representative told her that the ticket she had purchased online was a winning ticket. As Sirois hadn’t checked the draw results yet, the representative urged her to log into her online account to confirm her win.
Sirois was shocked to discover that she had indeed won the top prize — she was now $14 million richer. She recalled that the win made her very emotional.

Becoming a brand-new multimillionaire wasn’t the only major change in her life. Sirois promptly told her manager that she’s passing on the torch — the added financial security means she’s finally going to retire.
The brand-new winner said the windfall will allow her to fulfill some long-held dreams, such as buying a house and travelling with her loved ones. She just needs to decide on the destinations.
It’s been an extremely lucky month for several Lotto Max players.
The most recent winner was an Ontario lottery player who won $15 million on Tuesday, Jan. 20. In addition to Sirois’s January win, another Ontario winner scored a $55-million prize in the Jan. 9 draw. Less than two weeks before that, someone scored the $80-million Lotto Max prize on Dec. 30. The lucky ticket was sold in London, Ont.
The next draw is on Friday, Jan. 23, and the jackpot is worth $10 million.
