A Canadian lottery winner was left “humbled, gobsmacked, and (in) disbelief” by a life-changing Lotto Max prize over the holidays, and he wasn’t the only one in shock by the news.

Kelowna, B.C., resident Edward M. won $1 million on the Lotto Max draw held on Dec. 23, 2025.

Edward learned of his good fortune when he checked his ticket on BCLC’s Lotto! App while at home.

“I didn’t believe it,” Edward succinctly said in a release.

The first people that the lottery winner called about his $1 million jackpot were his children, who were overcome with joy.

Edward shared that one of his children cried at the good news, while the other was filled with pure excitement.

The winning ticket was bought at Walmart on Banks Road in Kelowna

Edward said that he plans on commemorating his windfall with a ‘family shindig.’

He also added that he looks forward to sharing the jackpot with his children while also thinking of retirement.

“This win just means more time with my kids and being able to financially be there for them if they need it,” Edward revealed. “Retiring is also something I will be able to do now.”

Kelowna residents have been lucky in the jackpot lately, with another local resident claiming a $31 million Lotto Max prize last fall.
