Canadian wins huge Lotto Max prize playing the same numbers for a year
An Ontario lottery player is celebrating after nabbing her first big Lotto Max win.
Toronto resident Dau Huu Ly said “yes” to Encore, which paid off. She matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the April 1, Lotto Max draw, and it was no April Fool’s joke. She’s taking home $100,000.
Ly, a hairstylist, is a longtime lottery player with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG). She regularly plays Lotto Max and Pick-4, sometimes adding Encore to her tickets.

The mother of four has been playing with the same numbers for about a year, and it finally paid off with a six-figure win.
āI went to the store to grab a new ticket and decided to check my previous ones as well,ā Ly recounted, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim her windfall. āWhen I scanned my ticket and saw the amount on the screen, I was so surprised and excited.ā
She shared the amazing news with her children.
āThey were very happy and just as shocked as I was!ā she said with a smile.
Ly plans to pay off bills and share her Lotto Max winnings with her children.
āBecoming a winner is a truly joyful experience. Itās something you never expect will happen to you, but when it does, it feels so good,ā she concluded.
Ly bought her winning ticket at Gateway Newstands on Gerrard Street in Toronto.
