A young Canadian said she plans to celebrate her first lottery win in a meaningful way: by sharing her windfall with her mom.

Twenty-five-year-old Dina Al Kadmani lives in Concord, Ont., and works as a receptionist. She said that she’s been playing the lottery for the past five years, and that Instant games are her favourite. One day, she stopped at a convenience store to buy several tickets, which included one for Instant Hyper Slots.

“I had three tickets to play. I didn’t win anything on the first two, but when I got to my last one, I was shocked — I thought I’d won $75,” she shared. “I was happy, as that would’ve been the most I’d ever won.”

But when she looked closer, she realized that her prize actually had a few more zeros.

“As I looked over my ticket, I noticed the zeros,” she said. “I was left in shock when I realized I’d won $75,000!”

Recalling the moment she won, Al Kadmani said she screamed and jumped up and down.

“I took my ticket to the store to have it validated, and even the clerk was thrilled for me. When I told my friends the news, they were stunned,” she stated.

While at the OLG Prize Centre to pick up her cheque, she said she already has plans for her winnings.

Not forgetting her beloved mom, she added, “I also plan to invest and share with my mom. I hope she wins next.”

She also plans to buy a car and pay off bills.

It’s going to take a while for reality to sink in for Al Kadmani, who said, “Winning feels great. It’s still hard to believe, and I’m still shaking. Words can’t really describe how I’m feeling. It’s just unreal!”

The winning ticket was purchased at Shop ’N’ Milk on Browns Line in Etobicoke.
