Several Canadians had an extra reason to be thankful after landing some big wins during the Thanksgiving weekend lottery draws.

The weekend’s biggest win came on Saturday, Oct. 10, when a lottery player won a massive Lotto 6/49 prize.

One lucky Canadian is now $5 million richer after matching six of the Classic Draw winning numbers, 12, 18, 23, 27, 28, and 45, plus the bonus number 32. According to PlayNow, the ticket was purchased in Ontario.

Although no one won the $20-million Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball top prize, someone matched the White Ball winning number 53468307-02 and won $1 million. The ticket was sold in Ontario. After purchasing their ticket online, a B.C. lottery player won the second prize worth $182,983.30. No one in B.C. won the $500,000 Classic Draw Extra Prize, and no one in Ontario won the $1-million Encore prize.

The next Lotto 6/49 draw is on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and the Gold Ball Prize is worth $22 million.

Amritpal S. of Surrey, B.C., is the most recent Lotto 6/49 top prize winner. After buying his ticket at a 7-Eleven, he won $32 million in the Sept. 19, 2026 draw.

“I know I can buy anything I want, but I’m still taking some time to decide,” said Amritpal. “My dream car is a Dodge Challenger, though.”

All eyes were on the $80-million Lotto Max jackpot; however, no one won the top prize in Friday’s Oct. 9 draw.

Someone in Ontario won the $374,535.20 second prize. A total of 93 winners will split the third prize, each one receiving $4,103.50.

There were 14 Maxmillions prizes, and four people each won $1 million. Two winning tickets were sold in B.C., one in Ontario, and one in Quebec.

A total of 80 MaxPlus prizes were up for grabs, and several Canadians across the country won $100,000 or shared a prize.

No one in B.C. won the $500,000 Lotto Max Extra Prize, and similarly, no one in Ontario won the $1-million Encore prize.

The next draw is on Tuesday, and the jackpot is now at $85 million with 16 Maxmillions prizes and 85 MaxPlus prizes.

The last time someone won the Lotto Max jackpot was on Aug. 25, when an Ontario player won $10 million. According to OLG, the ticket was sold somewhere in St. Catharines, Ont.
