A young lottery player has several reasons to celebrate after her dad gave her a winning lottery ticket as a birthday present.

Hailey Charlebois, a resident of Pickering, Ontario, said she’s been playing the lottery ever since she turned 18. When the jackpots are high, she’d occasionally buy a lottery ticket, opting for Lotto Max or Lotto 6/49. However, when she does decide to play the lottery, she prefers playing Instant games.

Knowing this, her dad gave her a lottery ticket: a $5 Instant Crossword Tripler.

“This ticket was a 23rd birthday gift from my dad,” she said.

So Charlebois sat down at the dinner table with her family to play her ticket. And that’s when she realized she had won.

“I kept saying, ‘No way!’ I was speechless and had to check it about 10 times,” she said.

She had won the game’s top prize worth $100,000.

While at the OLG Prize Centre to pick up her cheque, Charlebois shared her plans for her windfall.

She said that she’ll be using the money to travel to Paris, find her own place and that she’s thinking about buying a car.

But first, she wants to celebrate her win with her loved ones.

“I’m going to celebrate with my family and go see Post Malone!” she said. “I always believed I’d win someday, and I feel so blessed. This has been such a surreal experience.”

Charlebois’ winning ticket was purchased at Bay Ridges Market on Krosno Boulevard in Pickering.
