Lightning struck twice for one very lucky Canadian who’s now celebrating his second and even bigger lottery win in less than ten years.

George Sharpe, a resident of Brampton, Ont., is a retired HVAC salesperson who has been playing the lottery for about 20 years. After buying a Daily Keno ticket in 2018, he was surprised to discover that he had won a $10,000 prize.

But Sharpe’s luck didn’t stop there — several years later, he’s now celebrating a second, life-changing win. In September 2024, he stopped at a convenience store to buy himself a couple of lottery tickets, including a $1 Ontario 49 ticket.

“It was a regular Saturday when I decided to go to the store and pick up some lottery tickets,” he recalled. “A couple of days later, I went out to check my tickets and discovered my big win.”

He likely got dĂ©jĂ  vu when he realized that he had won the lottery for the second time. However, this time he had won the Ontario 49 top prize during the draw on Sept. 28, 2024, and he’s now $2 million richer.

While at the OLG Prize Centre to pick up his cheque, he said that he’s going to take some time to consider what he wants to do with his multimillion-dollar windfall. A true family man, he said he wants to share his good fortune with his daughter.

“I want to help my daughter purchase her first home, and maybe take a vacation,” said Sharpe.

The winning ticket was purchased at Park’s Convenience on McMurchy Avenue North in Brampton.
