After winning the lottery, a Canadian man said that his first big purchase will be a new house for his mother.

Lottery player David Schweyer works in masonry and lives in Fort Erie, Ont. One day, he purchased a ticket for The Bigger Spin for $10, an Instant scratch game that also gives players a chance to spin The Bigger Spin Wheel at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

“When the wheel stopped on Bigger Spin on the lottery terminal display, I knew I won the top prize,” recalled Schweyer. “I started cheering, saying, ‘I won the big one!’ It was unbelievable.”

He soon found himself at the Prize Centre for his chance to spin the wheel.

“When I put my hands on the actual Bigger Spin wheel, it was a little heavier than I thought,” he said.

To his surprise, the wheel landed on $1 million.

“When I saw it land on $1 million, I erupted with joy and felt tears come to my eyes,” shared Schweyer. “This is the most amazing thing that’s ever happened in my life!

After his big win, he stopped to make a special phone call.

“Calling my mom to tell her I won $1 million was the best part of my day,” he said.

He added that he feels lucky to have his mom in his life, and his windfall will allow him to take care of her in a way he’s always hoped to.

“I’m going to buy her a house and make sure she has everything she needs,” Schweyer stated.

He also plans to treat himself — he’s finally buying the speedboat that he’s wanted for years and has even come up with a name.

“I’m going to name it The Bigger Spin,” he said, smiling.

Schweyer bought his winning ticket at Inesons Variety on Gilmore Road in Fort Erie.
