One Canadian man never expected that a quick stop at the convenience store would lead to a life-changing lottery win.
David Morin is a 30-year-old Québec resident who lives in the Capitale-Nationale region. One day, he had planned to go fat biking but needed a snack, so he decided to pop into Dépanneur Éclair, a convenience store in Quebec City.
While at the store, he opted to add another purchase to his snack — a Gagnant à vie ticket, which costs $5. It wasn’t until he returned home that he played his ticket.

Loto-Québec
When Morin scratched his ticket, he couldn’t believe what he saw: three Vie symbols in the same game, which meant he had won the game’s top prize. However, the doubtful lottery player wanted to be sure, so he checked his ticket using the Loto–Québec app, which confirmed that he had indeed won $1,000 a week for life.
While at the Loto–Québec to pick up his cheque, he shared his plans for his windfall: Morin said the windfall would allow him to continue building his dream home without any financial worries.
The winning ticket was purchased at Dépanneur Éclair, at 1755 Blvd. Pie-XI Nord in Quebec City. The retailer will receive a one per cent commission of $10,000.
