An Ontario lottery player is celebrating his second big win in less than a year.

Oshawa resident David Glover is $50,000 richer after winning the top prize for Instant Super Strike.

The automotive industry worker has been playing with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for more than four decades.

Last summer, he nabbed his first major prize of $250,000, winning the Instant Neon Casino game after trying his luck and purchasing several $20 Instant tickets.

Less than one year later, Glover returned to the OLG Prize Centre to claim his second top prize.

ā€œAs part of my daily ritual, I went to the store to buy my tickets. I purchased four, asking the store clerk to give me one of the pretty-looking yellow tickets, which ended up being an Instant Super Strike,ā€ Glover recounted, on his second visit to the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. ā€œI took my ticket over to the store’s ticket checker right away. I didn’t have my glasses on and had to scan it twice to be sure I’d read the prize amount right!ā€

He went home to share the amazing news with his wife and daughter, who were in disbelief.

“She thought I’d won $5,000, but when I told her to look at the back of my ticket, she was shocked, saying, ā€˜You won again?’ I called my daughter, and she was very excited too,ā€ Glover smiled. ā€œWinning for a second time has been exhilarating! I never thought I would have this experience again.ā€

When he won his first lottery prize, Glover invested some of his winnings and shared it with his children. This time around, he also plans to invest the lottery windfall and treat himself to a trip.

Glover bought his winning lottery ticket at Circle K/Esso on Harmony Road North in Oshawa.
