A man from Quebec was shocked to learn he hit the jackpot after only a few weeks of playing the lottery.
Chaudière-Appalaches resident Alexis Michaud won a share of the Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot in the Sept. 10 draw. The winning numbers were 11, 25, 30, 35, 46, and 49, with a bonus number of 37. Three people managed to match all six numbers to score the $5-million prize.
Michaud is splitting the lottery prize with two other players — one from Western Canada and one from Quebec. They each take home a prize worth $1,666,666.

Michaud’s winning ticket was only his third-ever Lotto 6/49 ticket, which he bought on the Loto-Québec app. The lucky winner found out he had won when he checked his online account after work the day after the draw.
His sister was the first to find out about his amazing lottery win. He told Loto-Québec that she was stunned but happy for him.
Michaud revealed the incredible news to his parents later that day. He recalled his mother shedding tears of joy.
His family loves camping and going on road trips, so his plans for the lottery windfall will include a lot of time spent outdoors. They plan on exploring Canada in a van and travelling through Europe.

Michaud also plans to buy a house using the $1.6-million prize.
If you haven’t checked, you could be one of the other two players splitting the massive prize with Michaud. Check to see if you matched the winning numbers.
The Quebecer isn’t the only Canadian with beginner’s luck when it comes to playing the lottery. One Ontario teenager won a hefty lottery prize on the very first ticket she ever played.
