A Canadian lottery player’s life changed overnight after their Lotto 6/49 ticket landed them the White Ball prize.
The Lotto 6/49 draw took place on Wednesday, Sept. 17, and, at the time, the Gold Ball prize was worth $20 million. Although no one won the multimillion-dollar jackpot, the lucky lottery player scored the guaranteed White Ball prize worth $1 million after they matched the winning number 97106013-02. According to PlayNow, the winning ticket was sold in Atlantic Canada.
The Lotto 6/49 Classic draw winning numbers were 03, 12, 23, 27, 33, 45, and bonus 22, but no one matched the six numbers to score the $5-million top prize. Despite that, some Canadians will still be taking home some pretty big wins.
Four lottery players managed to match five of the six numbers and the bonus number to win the second prize in the Classic draw. Split among them, they’ll each take home their share worth $34,834.80. Two of the tickets were sold in Ontario, while the other two were sold in Quebec. A total of 101 people split the Classic draw’s third prize, netting each $579.30.

No one in B.C. won the $500,000 Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw Extra prize, and similarly in Ontario, there were no winners for the $1-million Encore prize.
Quebec resident Claude Boucher said he’s considering early retirement after winning the Gold Ball Jackpot of $46 million in the Aug. 27 Lotto 6/49 draw. The long-time employee of college CĂ©gep de Victoriaville bought the winning lottery ticket on the Loto-QuĂ©bec gaming website.
“I was scrolling quickly and I thought, ‘$46,000 isn’t too bad! But what are all those zeros? Oh, it’s $46,000,000!'” Boucher recalled.
The next Lotto 6/49 draw is set for Saturday, Sept. 20, and the Gold Ball prize is worth $22 million. There are now 24 balls left in the draw.
