A lucky Canadian lottery player is ending the week with a massive windfall after a successful Lotto 6/49 draw.

The Wednesday, Aug. 21, draw had a $42-million Gold Ball prize up for grabs. Unfortunately, the gold ball still wasn’t picked, but the 17th white ball was drawn.

Someone in Surrey, B.C. matched the winning numbers 19306567-01 to take home the $1-million White Ball prize.

That wasn’t the only amazing win from the lottery draw. The winning numbers for the Classic Draw prize were 24, 29, 31, 33, 36, 37, and bonus 21.

While no one matched all six of the numbers, a lottery player from Ontario matched five, including the bonus, winning the second prize of $284,652.10.

The luck didn’t stop there. The winning numbers for the Classic Draw Extra prize were 26, 46, 63, and 93.

Two people from B.C. matched all four of the numbers, winning the top prize of $500,000. A lottery player from Vernon and one from Nelson will split the prize, taking home $250,000 each.

If you didn’t beat the odds this time around, the next Lotto 6/49 draw is on Saturday, Aug. 23. The Gold Ball jackpot balloons to $44 million with 13 balls left in the draw.

Make sure to check your lottery ticket from Tuesday’s Lotto Max draw. You could be the $75-million jackpot winner.

Canadians will have another chance at becoming a multimillionaire in the next Lotto Max draw, which is on Friday, Aug. 22.

You could end up like one Ontario player who thought emails notifying him of his win were fake.

Lindsay, Ont. resident David Mark finally collected his $170,346.30 prize with Lotto Max months later because he was suspicious of how he first received the news about the win.

“I just randomly bought this ticket one day,” Mark recalled, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his winnings.

“After the draw date, I kept receiving emails from OLG telling me I’d won a prize, but I didn’t think they were real,” he chuckled. “A few months later, a representative from OLG called me to tell me I’d won big. I was shocked and so excited.”
