UPDATE: Prime Minister Mark Carney has delivered his victory speech.

The 45th Canadian federal election results are in, and the Liberal Party of Canada, led by Mark Carney, is projected to form government.

When the Liberal Party’s win was projected, the count showed the Liberal Party of Canada leading with 130 seats and the Conservative Party of Canada trailing with 89 seats. Many seats are left to be decided.

To form a majority, 172 seats are required out of a possible 343.

Carney and Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre ran two very different campaigns, and U.S. President Donald Trump was a significant factor in political conversations leading to the election. Tariffs and the trade war took up considerable time on the campaign trail for both leaders.

Trump even got involved on the morning of Election Day.

Looking at the popular vote, both parties were neck and neck, with the Liberal Party having a slight edge.

The New Democrats and the Greens failed to show they gained any significant ground in this election. The NDP was projected to win six or seven seats when the Liberal Party’s victory was declared. The Green Party of Canada is currently not leading in any riding. Meanwhile, the Bloc Québécois is leading with 17 as of this article’s publication.
