Jan 15 2024, 7:20 pm

Canada’s high cost of living has left millions of Canadians strapped for cash, and people are looking for ways to stretch their money.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen steady increases in almost all spending categories, including grocery, housing, and gas. Even owning a dog has become 23% more expensive in the last three years!

Although Canada’s year-over-year inflation is down — per the latest update in November 2023 — goods and services are still expensive, prompting many Canadians to try to slash their spending.

People are coming up with new creative ways to save cash, like using apps that reward your spending with more money, while others are going back to basics such as couponing.

What are your tried-and-true budgeting and savings tips? Have you become a master couponer when buying groceries? Do you have a budgeting strategy for paying your monthly bills? Are you changing your approach towards gift buying?

Essentially, we’re keen on hearing how you’ve cut costs and implemented budgeting tools to your finances and how those measures helped you save money. Your insights may be used in a future Daily Hive news story aimed at helping Canadians struggling with spending.
