Canada updates Argentina travel advisory with serious warning

If you have upcoming travel plans to Argentina, you may want to check the Canadian government’s updated travel advisory for the popular South American destination.
On Wednesday, the federal government added information to the travel advice for Argentina regarding entry and exit requirements. It also added information on enhanced border security measures.
“As a result of enhanced border security measures due to the situation in the Middle East, some travellers are facing delays or are being refused entry into the country,” reads the notice.

According to the advisory, the Government of Argentina has raised the national security level “following renewed tensions in the Middle East.”
“Enhanced security measures are in place for critical infrastructure, sensitive targets, and Jewish institutions,” reads the advisory. “This includes schools, clubs, places of worship, and the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA).”
The federal government says Canadians should expect more security in public spaces, as well as stricter checks at border crossings and points of entry, so make sure you have all of the necessary documents needed.

The statement urges Canadians to “exercise a high degree of caution” when travelling to the U.K. On Tuesday, the Government of Canada warned Canadians of a threat of terrorism in Europe.
“Terrorists have carried out attacks in several European cities,” reads the statement. “In the United Kingdom, previous attacks have resulted in casualties. They have included random violent incidents in public areas, such as knife and vehicle attacks, as well as explosions.”
