'My new favourite store': American Netflix host falls in love with Canadian Tire
Another American can’t stop raving about Canada. This time it’s Netflix host Rutledge Wood, who’s totally smitten by the half department, half hardware store, Canadian Tire.
The Alabama native who now lives in Georgia has been the host of obstacle course game show Floor is Lava since it debuted on Netflix in 2020. Aside from being a host, Wood is also a respected auto racing analyst, brand ambassador, and, as of this year, actor.
The 46-year-old star was in Canada promoting his new movie, Drifter, at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Sung Kang-directed film centres around a lonely racetrack custodian with a secret talent, and Rutledge has a small role.
But between the movie premiere, a day-long media blitz, and signing autographs for fans on the street, Wood still found time to get his shopping on.
He stopped by Canadian Tire and let’s just say this particular pit stop turned into a bit of a love affair. He loved it so much he filmed a post-haul video and shared it with his 368,000 followers on Instagram.
“I have found quite possibly the greatest store on earth,” read his caption.

Wood marvelled at the “awesome” employees, the new plaid jacket he scored (which he wears in the video), the Halloween costumes, the sporting goods, and the “massive” automotive section.
“I’m pretty sure they sell tires,” he joked, “…although I never actually saw any tires.” He even exclaimed he might need to get an apartment in the city just to be closer to the store.
He also loved how this Canadian Tire location was two floors and connected to the Eaton Centre mall. Maybe they just don’t make stores like this out in Georgia?
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” the former Top Gear host exclaimed. “What a time to be alive!”
Canadian Tire responded to Wood on Instagram, writing “We’re so honoured! Thanks for stopping by and hopefully see you again soon!”
Netflix stars can’t stop raving about Canada, and frankly, we can’t get enough.
