Air Canada now has free Wi-Fi on several major flight routes
You won’t have to download episodes of your favourite show before your trip anymore, as Air Canada is offering free Wi-Fi on several flight routes.
The free Wi-Fi service, sponsored by Bell, became available on Thursday, May 1, allowing Air Canada customers to use their devices to stream videos or play games during their flight. According to the airline, it’s available for customers travelling across North America and on flights to and from sun destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean.
The complimentary streaming-quality free Wi-Fi is available on Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express flights operated with CRJ900 aircraft. However, you must be an Aeroplan member to connect to the free Wi-Fi onboard. Customers who don’t have a membership can purchase Wi-Fi for their flight at a flat fee.

To connect, ensure your Aeroplan number is captured when booking your flight. You can also add your Aeroplan number once you complete your check-in. Once you board your flight, connect to the Wi-Fi and follow instructions. Switching to another device? Simply follow the same steps to transfer your session and disconnect from the previously used device.
“This initiative underscores Air Canada’s focus on elevating the customer experience, with leadership in providing streaming quality connectivity, at a pace unmatched by other airlines — at home and around the world,” said Mark Nasr, executive vice president and chief operations officer at Air Canada. “We now offer Wi-Fi on 88 per cent of our fleet, with the remaining installations to be completed by early 2026.”

Although free Wi-Fi is available on select routes, Aeroplan members will have access to the service on long-haul international flights by next year. In the meantime, they can continue to enjoy free texting on those flights.
