Beauty cream sold at Shoppers Drug Mart recalled across Canada
Health Canada has issued a recall of a popular beauty cream sold across Canada due to potential contamination.
In a statement shared on Wednesday, April 30, the agency announced the recall of the Watier Age Control Supreme Sublime Advanced Rich day cream due to “microbial contamination.”
The cream can ordinarily be found on Shoppers Drug Mart shelves and Amazon Canada.
“The recalled product does not meet microbial standards over time,” reads the statement. “The product may contain a microorganism called Lactobacillus pentosus. Lactobacillus pentosus (a probiotic) poses little medical risk to people.”
Due to the recall, consumers in Canada are being asked to stop using the product immediately.
The recalled batch of Watier Age Control Supreme Sublime Advanced Rich day cream was manufactured in Canada. It’s packaged in a printed cylindrical glass jar that contains 50ml of the product. To determine if you have the recalled product, check the UPC and lot number printed on the bottom of the jar and the outer cardboard packaging: 058655630646 and (L)23L1757.

According to Groupe Marcelle Inc., 885 affected units were sold in Canada from September 2024 to February 2025. The company is urging customers to contact them for a refund.
As of April 22, 2025, there have been no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. However, Health Canada is urging people to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of the product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form. Doing so could help prevent incidents or injuries.
“Please note that, in addition to the requirements of the Cosmetic Regulations, the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) prohibits the sale of cosmetics that are either made with hazardous substances or under unsanitary conditions, to users in Canada,” states Health Canada.
