
A woman was killed outside of a school in Strathcona Park on Tuesday morning in what police say is believed to be a targeted domestic incident.
At around 7:40 am, police responded to reports of an incident outside an elementary school in the 300 block of Strathcona Drive SW, where a woman was declared dead on scene.
The suspect was later found deceased nearby, and police say there is no risk to the public.
They took to social media to warn the public to avoid the Strathcona Park area earlier Tuesday morning.

An elementary school and a preschool were put on lockdown as a precaution but it is not believed that any staff or students were at risk at any time.
“This was a very traumatic event that occurred in a public place,” CPS said in a news release, adding that theĀ Victim Assistance Support Team is heading to the scene to speak with anyone who needs support following the traumatic event.
Police will not be releasing the identity of the deceased even after completion of the autopsy to protect the privacy of the family.
