The dream just got even better.

Now that Calgary International Airport has become something of a home for WestJet’s new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, WestJet has announced that they are adding a fourth destination for flyers coming out of YYC: Maui, Hawaii.

The lush island paradise lives up to the plane’s name as a dream destination, with Kahului joining the cities of London, Paris, and Dublin as a consistent flight path for the newly acquired Dreamliners.

“Flying on the WestJet Dreamliner is a game changer in travel; guest feedback on the experience has been phenomenal,” said Brian Znotins, WestJet’s Vice-President of Network Planning and Alliances, in a release.

“The Dreamliner was built for transoceanic routes with technology that reduces jetlag and leaves travellers feeling more refreshed upon arrival. With our custom cabins and award-winning service, guests are going to love the journey as much as the destination.”

The flights between Calgary and Maui will operate up to six times weekly or up to four times weekly on WestJet’s Dreamliners.

Service will start October 31 of this year for the YYC to Hawaii flights — just in time to escape the start of a Calgary winter.

“Our guests love travelling to Hawaii, and now their trip to Maui will be even more memorable with WestJet’s Dreamliner service to the island,” said Bob Sartor, president and CEO of the Calgary Airport Authority, in the release.

“Thank you to WestJet for another significant commitment to your Boeing 787-9 hub at YYC.”

The release also noted that flights between Calgary and London (Gatwick) will be increased to four times a week starting on October 27.

Dreamliner flights to Paris kicked off on May 17 and flights out to Dublin are expected to begin on June 1.
