It’s hump day! Which means you’re halfway to the weekend.

Here are a few things happening around town today that will help you get back into the groove.

Wagonstage Children’s Theatre at the Calgary Zoo

Enjoy two 20 minute shows performed by Drama students from Wagonstage Children’s Theatre. Hippo Needs a Bath is performed in the green space between the Kitamba Café and the Rhino enclosure and The Dinosaur Club, No Babies Allowed! takes place in the Prehistoric Park Amphitheatre. Shows take place Wednesday through Sunday at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm

When: Wednesday through Sunday until Friday, August 19
Cost: Regular admission to the Zoo

Preview in the Plaza – Latin Spice

Hear the acts kicking off this year’s Expo Latino. International recording artist Natalie Castro and Grammy-nominated Cuban superstar Wil Campa with his orchestra will be entertaining anyone who comes to Olympic Plaza.

Lunchtime Pop-Up Picnics – Cancelled

Due to the rain and high risk of thunderstorms, this week’s Pop-Up Picnic has been canceled. Check back next week!

Pop-up Picnic is a lunch hour (Noon to 1pm) event hosted by Downtown Calgary in various locations around the downtown core. They’ll provide the tables, chairs, entertainment and all you have to do is bring your lunch and some friends. Each picnic will have a unique theme – this week’s being ‘xxx’ and will be held at a different location each week.

Cost: Free

Ciné-Débat “Nos jours heureux”

In French with English subtitles. This is a FREE event. A genuine and often funny depiction of the relationships between monitors and children in a summer vacation camp. From romance to friendship, dancing to fighting, this French movie bring back good souvenirs of childhood.

Shakespeare by the Bow: Hamlet

Theatre Calgary is bringing Hamlet outside as it shows its annual outdoor performances of Shakespeare by the Bow. It is a pay-what-you-will and non-ticketed event, so you can just turn up with a blanket and picnic and settle in; the suggested donation is $20 per adult. All funds go towards the Shakespeare by the Bow program providing mentorship and support for Alberta’s emerging theatre artists.

Where: Prince’s Island Park – 698 Eau Claire Avenue SW
When: Now until August 21, every day except Mondays; performances at 7 pm, with an extra 2pm matinee on Sundays.
