Summertime was made for outdoor festivities, and we’re happy to report that Calgary has no shortage of those to go around. The beloved Red Mile downtown, also known as 17th Avenue, has summer events happening nearly every week.
So when you’re out there perusing the shops, you might just happen across an outdoor concert. If you feel like making a night of it, then plan to be there for one of their decade-themed party nights.
No matter your choice, you’ll never run out of things to do and see! Here are all the summer events to check out on and around 17th Avenue this summer.
’80s Celebration

It’s an ’80s celebration, need we say more? It’s time to tease your hair to its limits and put on your best fluorescent threads. Or, you can just show up and enjoy the festivities.
There will be a maker’s market from noon to 8 p.m. featuring local artisans and handcrafted wares. Do some shopping while you enjoy live performances happening all day long.

What could be better than enjoying some tunes in the great outdoors with a fresh iced coffee from a nearby cafe in hand? If the ’80s weren’t your favourite decade, then you can always come down for the ’90s instead. This event will feature another full day of outdoor programming at Tomkins Park with free live music — all ’90s, of course — and a pop-up market featuring local sellers.
