A&W Canada is bringing back two fan-favourite menu items for the summer

National fast food chain A&W is bringing two of its best-selling limited menu items back this summer, but they won’t be here forever.

Even if you don’t live anywhere near the ocean (we’re looking at you, central Canada), A&W is giving diners across the country the chance to get a taste of the sea this summer, as they bring their mega-popularĀ Cod BurgerĀ andĀ Cod Taco back for a limited time.

A seasonal favourite, heralded by some as the “best fast food fish burger” on the market, is one of A&W’s top-selling limited items year after year, with throngs of fried fish fans waiting all year long for the sandwich’s return.

The burger, the price of which varies by location, features wild-caught cod lightly fried in a golden batter and placed inside a toasted brioche-style bun with tangy tartar sauce and coleslaw.

Alternatively, you can opt to enjoy your fish taco-style by having it wrapped up in a soft flour tortilla, with all the same toppings as the sandwich, for a light summertime bite.

ā€œWe’ve seen how much our guests have loved the Cod Burger in the past, and we’re excited to bring it back just in time for summer,ā€ says Karan Suri, senior director of innovation at A&W.

ā€œAt A&W, we’ve become known for having Canada’s best-tasting burgers because of our real and natural ingredients, and our Cod Burger is no different.ā€

The return of the fan-favourite burger and tacos comes in the wake of the burger chain’s announcement that three beloved veggie burgers would be joining the menu lineup permanently following record-breaking sales, so who knows? If enough Cod Burger fans take the bait, maybe this could become a year-round thing.

For now, though, the Cod Burger and Tacos are available at A&W locations across Canada only for the summer, as of July 14, so you’ll want to flip your fins and get to your nearest location as soon as possible to get them before they’re gone.
