Popular Canmore brewery eyeing expansion just outside Calgary
A popular Canmore-based brewery is setting its sights on Cochrane, teasing a new location that could bring its fresh pours closer to Calgary.
Sheepdog Brewing hinted at the expansion in a recent social media post, telling followers it has been “quietly working behind the scenes” and is getting closer to sharing more details.
“In the not-so-distant future, in a town not so far down the road… We’re heading somewhere new,” the post said.
While the announcement didn’t include many specifics, it confirmed the brewery will be bringing its Canmore brews straight to Cochrane.

The company currently operates two locations, one in Canmore and one in Banff. It’s well-known for its lineup of craft beers and mountain vibes.
It first opened its Canmore taproom in 2019, then expanded to Banff in 2025, drawing visitors from across the province.
Details like an exact location and opening timeline have not been announced yet, but the brewery says it’s looking forward to welcoming guests through the doors of its newest space soon.
