Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes recently popped by the small community of Saddle Lake to spend some time with residents and Juno Award Nominee Tia Wood.

In October, Wood joined Mendes on stage in Vancouver during his world tour to perform his song “Youth.” During his visit to Saddle Lake, Mendes was welcomed into a ceremony and spent some time around the small community.

Wood took to Facebook to share the moment. “He was only here for a day — just enough time to show him where we grew up and to share a small part of who we are. We welcomed him into ceremony, which meant a lot to our family and was done in a good way.”

Mendes also took time to explore the community and meet the people who call Saddle Lake home.

“Our Raelyn girl made a new bestie, Shawn Mendes, the kindest, most down-to-earth, loving friend. Thank you for all the love and kindness you showered my Raelyn girl with, truly a visit we will never forget,” one parent shared.

Some other stops included a local auto shop: “What an honour to have a special guest visit our store tonight!”

Mendes was only in town for a day, but his visit to the community was nothing short of sweet. “His visit was brief, but meaningful, and it’s something we’ll always appreciate,” Wood’s Facebook post continued.

During his visit, the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” singer stopped in at a local business called Julia’s Quilts and Designs to pose for photos with fans and receive some gifts.
