Second Rundle shooting victim succumbed to wounds 12 days later

The Calgary Police Service issued a release on Tuesday stating that the second victim in a shooting in Rundle passed away in hospital.

The incident occurred at around 3:45 am on December 30, according to police, with shots being reported on the 100 block of Rundlemere Road NE.

No one was at the scene when police arrived, though two young men were later dropped off at a hospital suffering from gunshot wounds.

One man, who was later identified as 22-year-old Keem Geng, succumbed to his woulds shortly after arriving at hospital.

The second man would also succumb to his wounds, though it would be January 10 when 22-year-old Achor Jal would die as a result of his earlier injuries.

Police are now investigating the incident as a double homicide, and Jal’s death brings the total number of Calgary homicides up to 21 for 2019.

The shootings are believed by police to have been targeted attacks.
