Living in land-locked Alberta can be a bit of a bummer if you’re a fan of fresh seafood – but that’s not to say we can’t get our hands on some delicious oysters.
This upcoming Tuesday, February 27, the 10th annual Rocky Mountain Oysterfest will be held at Calgary’s own National on 8th, where attendees will have a chance to win a stellar door prize, get to watch the Oyster Shucking Competition, and, of course, have at some oysters.

Tickets are $5 at the door, which automatically puts you in the draw for a Meta4Foods oyster shucking experience and gift pack (valued at $400). All ticket proceeds will be going toward Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S., a charity that supports Albertans who suffer from dementia.
Once inside, attendees will be privy to buck-a-shuck oysters, wing specials, $5 pints, and a build your own Caesar bar.
The Oyster Shucking Competition will feature some of Calgary’s best chefs as they compete to win a trip to the Canadian Oyster Shucking Championship in PEI, where they will have a shot at being crowned the 2018 Canadian Oyster Shucking Champion.
Along with the event at National on 8th, all other National locations will be offering buck-a-shuck oysters and half-priced bottles of wine on Tuesdays from 3 pm to close.
