Calgary taproom and taco shop to close its doors after almost four years

A Calgary taproom, known for its selection of craft beer, margaritas and tacos, has revealed it will be closing after almost four years.

Rising Tides, an inclusive community taproom, took to social media to share the news that its location at 4545 Bowness Rd. NW would be closing its doors this week. Its last call will be on Friday, Dec. 19, at 5:30 p.m.

“We are very sad to share that after nearly 4 years, a few hundred thousand beers and an unmeasurable volume of heart filling community connection, Rising Tides has sadly come to the end of our time,” it said.

First opening its doors in April 2022, Rising Tides quickly became a favourite in the Montgomery community for serving a wide selection of local craft beers and snacks. In 2024, the spot also welcomed the addition of Vamos Taco Shop.

The space, carefully designed with west coast beachy vibes, also featured a giving wall, where guests were able to make donations to local causes.

“We are hopeful that in whatever comes next, the space will remain reminiscent of what it has become – an explicitly inclusive place to gather, laugh, toast, and share in the highs and lows of life together,” Rising Tides said.

For those looking to say goodbye to Rising Tides, the space will be open for a few more days.
