
There will be tons of opportunities around the country to commemorate Remembrance Day holiday, and Calgary will be hosting a few of its very own.
We’ve put together a list of events where you can honour the more than 115,000 Canadian soldiers who gave their lives during the First and Second World War.

The Military Museums – Ceremony
Join the Military Museum for a special ceremony to remember the fallen. The museum will be open after the ceremony and admissions are by donation. It’s recommended to arrive early, and non-perishable food donations are accepted.

Canadian Pacific – Ceremony
The annual ceremony will take place at the Ogden Memorial and it’s open to the public. Canadian Pacific will pay tribute to more than 33,000 employees who served in the last century’s wars. Every CP locomotive will sound its whistle at 11:01 am to start a moment of silence.

Where: CP Memorial Square – located adjacent to the parking lot by 69th Avenue SE and Odgen Dale Road SE entrance

Union Cemetery – Tour
Union Cemetery is offering a special tour this Remembrance Day.
When: Monday, November 11, 2019
Time: From 2 pm to 3:30 pm
Where: Meeting point — Galloway House, the building near the Union Cemetery gate at Spiller Road SE and Cemetery Road SE
Admission: Free
The Hangar Flight Museum – Ceremony
The annual ceremony will be held outdoors if weather permitting, and it’s recommended to arrive early and dress warmly. Non-perishable food donations to the Veterans Food Bank will be accepted and the museum will keep its doors open after the ceremony with admission by donation until 4 pm.
When: Monday, November 11, 2019
Time: 10:30 am
Where: The Hangar Flight Museum — 4629 McCall Way NE
Admission: Free, donations accepted
Fort Calgary – Service
This moving ceremony facilitated by the RCMP Veterans’ Association of Calgary will feature bagpipes, readings, and choral singers. Although entrance is free, it’s required to register for a ticket.

Time: 10:30 am
Where: Burnswest Theatre — 750 9th Avenue Southeast
Admission: Free with a non-perishable donation to the Veterans Food Bank
