Huge grocery store spanning almost 100,000 sq. ft. opens near Calgary this fall
Last year, news broke of a huge new grocery store that was gearing up to open just outside of Calgary, and now we finally have details on when it’s likely to open to the public.
As part of a partnership between Taza Development Corporation and Loblaw, it was revealed last April that a new Real Canadian Superstore location would be opening just west of Calgary in Tsuut’ina Nation, with the complex spanning just under 100,000 square feet.
The new Superstore outpost will form part of the 1,200-acre development at Buffalo Run, where it will offer a wide selection of groceries, household goods, and general merchandise to cater to the needs of local shoppers.
According to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada, the development includes a one-storey building, parking lot and loading zone spanning around 9,240 square metres (around 99,459 square feet).
The store was initially projected to open sometime in 2026, but now a Loblaws spokesperson has confirmed to Dished that the store is slated to open by the end of November.
It’s an exciting time for the area, with construction kicking off on a Walmart Supercentre at the nearby Taza Park.
