A new West London-style restaurant and bar is opening in Calgary

Late last year, Latin American restaurant Gringo Street announced it would be closing its 17th Avenue outpost. While the space remained empty for a couple of months, we now know what is set to replace it.

Pimlico Bar, a bar and kitchen concept that takes inspiration from Britain, is taking over the distinctive bright yellow shipping container at 101 – 524 17th Ave. SW.

The spot describes itself as a “West London-style” open kitchen and craft cocktail bar, with a wide menu of Modern British dishes with influences from the Commonwealth and Europe.

Diners will be able to enjoy a range of classic British fare from scotch eggs to Eton Mess (a dessert made up of meringue, berries, and whipped cream) as well as flavours from further afield, such as jerk roasted chicken.

There’s also an extensive beverage selection, with 23 different house cocktails on the menu, as well as wine, beer, and a good selection of mocktails.

Just in time for the warmer weather, Pimlico also has its own outdoor patio to soak up the sunny 17th Avenue vibes.

While the spot is now open to visit, it’ll host its grand opening on Friday, March 28.
