Check out a pet costume parade at Prince's Island Park tomorrow

This is the event none of us knew that we needed.

With the world turned upside down thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic cancelling much of our summer, there hasn’t been all that much to look forward to out here in Calgary.

Enter the “Paws”-play Pet Parade.

If there’s one thing that can bring some warmth to the tragic state of the world, it’s pets dressed up in silly costumes.

The “Paws”-play Pet Parade (pronounced like Cosplay) will be held at Prince’s Island Park on Saturday, August 22, with organizers encouraging pet owners to RSVP to sign themselves and their furry friend up to participate.

The online event page states that the pet parade is a “socially distant, nerdy, masks-required (for humans) meet up with our furry friends in cosplay. Costumes can be as simple or elaborate according to the ‘Paws’-player’s comfort level.”

The parade will begin shortly after the 1 pm meetup time and will see pets and owners form a walking path around the park.

Participation is free, as is attendance for anyone who may want to see the stylin’ pets in action.

The event post did note that all participating pets must be well-behaved and in their owner’s control at all times.
