Olympic Plaza skate rentals are FREE next weekend for Grey Cup Festival

“Ice skating” and “football” might not go hand in hand, but that’s not going to stop the City of Calgary from getting folks on the ice during next weekend’s Grey Cup Festival.
The festival organizers announced in a tweet on Thursday that, as part of the four-day festivities, the city would be offering free skate rentals at Olympic Plaza on select days in the lead up to Sunday’s big game.
Crews have even painted a new graphic under the ice to celebrate:

The free skate rentals can be enjoyed on Thursday November 21 from 4 to 9:30 pm, Friday, November 22 from 4 to 9:30 pm, and Saturday, November 23 from noon to 9:30 pm — making for a pretty perfect evening skate under the stars.
Those who have their own trusty pair of skates will, as usual, be able to skate for free.
The 107th Grey Cup will be held on Sunday, November 24 at McMahon Stadium with kickoff at 4 pm.
Plenty of exciting (and FREE) events will be held throughout the city in the days leading up to the big game, so be sure to keep an eye out for more announcements all throughout next week!
