Alberta health officials to provide live COVID-19 update this afternoon

Nov 25 2020, 6:21 pm

Health officials in Alberta will provide a live update on COVID-19 on Wednesday afternoon.

A release from the Province of Alberta notes that Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will speak via livestream at a press conference at 3:30 pm MST.

This will be the first press conference held updating the province about coronavirus since Tuesday, when Hinshaw, Premier Jason Kenney, and Minister of Health Tyler Sandro were all present to provide new public health measures.

“Let me be blunt, if these measures do not have a meaningful impact — and that depends on how each one of us responds — we will be forced to take even more drastic measures to protect the healthcare system later in December,” said Kenney during the Tuesday press conference.

Alberta has seen cases rise over the past month, with active cases surpassing the 10,000 mark last week.

Alberta has since surpassed Ontario and Quebec to become the Canadian province with the highest active case count at 13,349 as of November 24.

Albertans will be able to view the live press conference at the YourAlberta YouTube channel at 3:30 pm MST.
